VicRoads Duplication of Western Highway Environment Effects Statement

Updated: 2nd Apr 2013

VicRoads is planning to duplicate the Western Highway between Ararat and Stawell which includes provision for two lanes in each direction with a central median and associated intersection upgrades to improve road safety and facilitate the efficient movement of traffic.

Due to the potentially significant effects on the environment associated with this proposal, VicRoads is required to prepare an Environment Effects Statement (EES) under the Environment Effects Act 1978  to document the likely environmental effects of the proposal.
The EES public exhibition period has now closed and a Directions Hearing was held on the 5th March 2013. The Inquiry panel hearing is the next step in the EES process with the public hearing to be from 8 - 9 April 2013 in Ararat.
