The Victorian Planning Provisions provides the consistent framework for the content of all planning schemes throughout Victoria. Each municipality has a Planning Scheme which outlines the State and local policy provisions. Within Ararat Rural City, the land use, development and its protection are controlled by the Ararat Rural City Planning Scheme.

The planning scheme provides a framework within which all planning decisions can be made. It sets out the land use zones for each area which determines how each of these zones can be used and or developed. All planning schemes, including the Ararat Rural City Planning Scheme, are available online at Department Of Sustainability and Environment website.

A series of maps detailing the land use zone of the planning scheme is available at Council (and online) for your perusal.
