Rate payment options
1. In person
Present notice intact to the Municipal Offices, Vincent St, Ararat, during business hours, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5.15pm. Payment may be made by cash or cheque made payable to Ararat Rural City Council, by credit card (Bankcard, Visa and Mastercard) or debit card (EFTPOS).
Payments can also be made at any Post Office.
Pay by Cheque
Detach bottom portion of account and make cheque payable to Ararat Rural City Council and mail both to P.O. Box 246, Ararat, 3377. Receipts are issued only on request. Postal delays cannot be accepted as an excuse for late payment.
In person at any Post Office, or by phone 13 18 16. Alternatively, go to www.postbillpay.com.au.
Contact your financial institution to make this payment from your cheque, savings, debit or credit card. More information at www.bpay.com.au.
Late payments will be charged interest. If you are having difficulty paying your rates by the due date you can contact the Rates Office to arrange alternative payments.
Pensioner Rate Assistance Scheme
If you hold a Commonwealth Pensioner Concession Card or Veteran Affairs Gold Card and live at the property shown on the rate notice you may be eligible for a 50 per cent rebate (to a maximum of $198.00 for 2012/2013). To apply for a first time rebate you must produce your rates notice and concession card and fill in an application form, which is available from the Municipal Offices in Vincent St, Ararat. If you received a rebate last year and your circumstances have not changed, you will automatically be granted a rebate this year.
In 2012/2013 Council also offers a flat $80 Council Rebate for pensioners eligible to receive the State Government Concession.
